Getting ready for a test at Duns
The 1 roundabout and no traffic lights within 2 km are both fewer than at 9 in 10 test centres. Expect more give way lines. You judge most gaps yourself. Limits go up to 60 mph, and driving too slowly is marked too. 70.2% passed here in 2025-26, 20.2 points above the GB average, the 11th highest of 316 centres.
A car test lasts around 35 minutes, with a show me and a tell me question and a pull up on the left. The examiner picks the roads on the day, so practise the junctions, not one route.

How many driving faults fail you?
The pass mark explained: up to 15 driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults, and why 15 is a limit, not a target.
