Privacy policy
The short version: you can drive without telling us anything, we don't keep your drives unless you send us a problem report, and if you subscribe we hold only what's needed to run your subscription.
Last updated: 18 October 2026
What we collect and why
Your account. You only need an account to subscribe. We hold your email address to link your subscription to you. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (UK GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
Your subscription. Whether it's active and when it renews or ends, so you get full access while you're subscribed. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
Payments. Processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Analytics, only if you say yes. If you choose OK on the cookie notice, Google Analytics records how the site and the simulator are used, including whether you subscribe. Choose No thanks and none of this happens. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can change at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
Searches. What you search for is sent to a search service to find results. It isn't linked to your account.
Technical records. Like any website, our servers keep short-lived technical records, including IP addresses, to run the service and keep it secure. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running the service.
Problem reports, only if you send one. If you send a report from the simulator, we receive what you write, a screenshot if you include one, your drive so far and basic details of your device. If you're signed in, it's linked to your account so we can reply. We use reports only to fix problems. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in making the simulator work properly.
What we don't collect
We don't keep your drives unless you send us a problem report. We never see your card details, and we never ask for your driving licence number or anything to do with your DVSA booking.
Who else sees it
These services help us run the site, and each gets only what its job needs:
- Google. Hosting, sign-in, data storage and web fonts.
- Stripe. Payments and billing. Stripe receives your email address and your card details directly.
- Google Analytics. Only if you've said OK: how the site and the simulator are used, including whether you subscribe. Never your name or email.
- Search services. What you search for and your IP address.
We don't sell your data and we don't share it for advertising. We would only hand anything over if the law required it.
Where data lives
Google and Stripe may process data outside the UK, including in the US, under standard contractual safeguards for international transfers. Some search services are also run from outside the UK.
How long we keep it
Your account and subscription record go when you delete your account. Stripe keeps its own transaction records for as long as UK tax and anti-fraud rules require. Analytics data expires on Google Analytics' own schedule. Problem reports are deleted within a year, and with your account if you delete it.
Deleting your account
Go to your account page and choose Delete account. This cancels any subscription straight away and permanently removes your account, your subscription record and any problem reports you sent while signed in. You can also email us and ask us to do it for you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy, a correction or deletion of your data at any time, and you can object to or restrict how we use it. Write to helperdrivingtest@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month.
If you think we've got it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or why, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes get a plain statement of what changed rather than a silent edit.
