Getting ready for a test at Birmingham (Kings Heath)
There are 3 sets of traffic lights within 2 km, fewer than at 7 in 10 test centres. You judge most gaps yourself. Some roads nearby have limits of 60 mph or more, so match the traffic when you join. 46.8% passed here in 2025-26, 3.2 points below the GB average.
A car test lasts around 35 minutes, with a show me and a tell me question and a pull up on the left. The examiner picks the roads on the day, so practise the junctions, not one route.
