Roads within 2 km of the centre
Main roads nearby include Blackpool Road, Riversway, Watery Lane, Tom Benson Way and Liverpool Road. The DVSA doesn't publish test routes, so the drive covers the same kinds of roads your examiner can choose from.
Getting ready for a test at Preston
There are 8 roundabouts within 2 km, fewer than at 7 in 10 test centres. Expect more give way lines. Limits go up to 50 mph, and driving too slowly is marked too. 56.3% passed here in 2025-26, 6.3 points above the GB average.
A car test lasts around 35 minutes, with a show me and a tell me question and a pull up on the left. The examiner picks the roads on the day, so practise the junctions, not one route.
