Getting ready for a test at Goodmayes (London)
The 99 pedestrian crossing points and 33 sets of traffic lights within 2 km are both more than at 9 in 10 test centres. Watch for people at the kerb. Read the lights early to avoid braking hard. Nothing within 2 km is faster than 40 mph. 43.7% passed here in 2025-26, 6.3 points below the GB average.
A car test lasts around 35 minutes, with a show me and a tell me question and a pull up on the left. The examiner picks the roads on the day, so practise the junctions, not one route.
