Roads within 2 km of the centre
Main roads nearby include Heol Ffrydan, Heol Tegid, Heol Pensarn, Heol Yr Orsaf and Y Stryd Fawr. The DVSA doesn't publish test routes, so the drive covers the same kinds of roads your examiner can choose from.
Getting ready for a test at Bala
There isn't a roundabout within 2 km, which is rare. Drives can go further, so keep practising them. Limits go up to 60 mph, and driving too slowly is marked too. 61.6% passed here in 2025-26, 11.6 points above the GB average.
A car test lasts around 35 minutes, with a show me and a tell me question and a pull up on the left. The examiner picks the roads on the day, so practise the junctions, not one route.
Guides for your test
Junction observation on your driving test
Why poor observation at junctions is the most common reason people fail, and how to emerge safely without hesitating.
How many driving faults fail you?
The pass mark explained: up to 15 driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults, and why 15 is a limit, not a target.
